Every agency in Pune says it builds fast, SEO-friendly websites. Almost none of them will tell you what it costs until you hand over your phone number. So here are the numbers, the timelines, and the things you should insist on in writing — including the ones that are inconvenient for us.
Ranges, not a price list — scope genuinely changes the number. But a range you can plan around beats “contact us for pricing”, and if a quote lands far outside these bands, ask why.
₹14,999 – ₹35,000
New businesses, consultants and single-service firms who need to exist credibly online.
Not for you if you need to publish regularly, sell online, or rank against established competitors.
₹40,000 – ₹1,20,000
Established firms competing for search traffic — the most common bracket for Pune B2B.
Overkill if you only ever hand the URL out on a visiting card.
₹75,000 – ₹3,00,000
D2C brands and retailers selling online, on Shopify or WooCommerce.
The range is wide because 40 SKUs and 4,000 SKUs are different projects.
₹2,50,000+
Portals, dashboards, booking systems, marketplaces and anything with user logins.
Priced per scope. Anyone quoting this bracket without a discovery call is guessing.
Build cost is the number everyone compares. Running cost is the number that surprises people in month two.
| Item | Typical cost | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| .in / .com domain | ₹900 – ₹1,500 / year | Yours, renewed annually. Should be registered in your name, not ours. |
| Shared or cloud hosting | ₹3,000 – ₹15,000 / year | Depends on traffic. A brochure site does not need a ₹15,000 plan. |
| SSL certificate | ₹0 | Let's Encrypt is free and automatic. Being charged for basic SSL is a red flag. |
| Maintenance & updates | ₹2,000 – ₹10,000 / month | Optional. Core, plugin and security updates, backups, small edits. |
| Content & photography | Varies | The line item most often forgotten, and the one that delays launches. |
This list applies to hiring anyone in Pune, including us. Most disputes we get called in to clean up trace back to one of these seven never being agreed at the start.
Not the agency's. Ask for registrar login access on day one. This is the single most common way businesses get held hostage.
Paying an agency's rebilled hosting is fine — being unable to log into it is not.
In writing. For custom builds, ask for a Git repository you own or a full export at handover.
Google Analytics, Search Console and any Ads account should be owned by you, with the agency granted access — never the reverse.
Stock photos licensed to the agency do not transfer automatically. Unlicensed fonts and images are a real legal exposure.
Thirty days is normal. Distinguish bugs, which should be free, from new requests, which should not.
You should be able to leave with your content in a usable format, without paying for the privilege.
There is no best answer, only a right answer for your situation. Here is the honest version, including where each choice hurts.
Best for
Content-heavy sites, blogs, and teams who want to edit everything themselves.
Watch out for
Plugin sprawl kills speed and creates a security surface. Needs actual maintenance, not neglect.
Cost shape
Lowest to build, ongoing cost to maintain.
Best for
Selling products, when you want payments, inventory and shipping solved on day one.
Watch out for
Monthly platform fee plus transaction cuts. Deep customisation fights the platform.
Cost shape
Predictable, scales with revenue.
Best for
Speed-critical marketing sites, web apps, and anything with logic a CMS can't express.
Watch out for
You need a developer for structural changes. Wrong choice for a five-page brochure site.
Cost shape
Highest to build, cheapest to run, fastest by a distance.
Hinjewadi through Kharadi, Magarpatta and Baner. SaaS firms, services companies and funded startups whose buyers will open dev tools and check your page speed before replying. Here the site is judged as a product, and looking under-built costs you the deal.
Bhosari, Chakan and the PCMC ancillary units. The visitor is often a procurement engineer searching a narrow technical term, who wants specifications, certifications and a downloadable catalogue. Pretty is irrelevant; being findable and credible is everything.
Clinics, builders, studios, institutes and restaurants across Kothrud, Aundh and Hadapsar. Traffic is mostly mobile and mostly from the map pack, so a Google Business Profile and a phone number that is one tap away matter more than another page of copy.
Development is rarely the slow part. Content is. Projects that run late almost always ran late here.
Goals, competitors, sitemap and a written scope. Skipping this is why projects overrun.
The real bottleneck. Development waits on copy, images, logos and approvals — not the other way round.
Pages built against the agreed structure, reviewed on a staging link you can see at any time.
Real devices, forms actually submitted, speed measured, 404s and redirects mapped.
DNS cutover, analytics verified, Search Console submitted, sitemap pinged.
Ask us these too. If a developer becomes vague on questions two, four or six, that is your answer.
A 4–6 page starter site runs ₹14,999 to ₹35,000. A 10–20 page business website with a CMS is typically ₹40,000 to ₹1,20,000. E-commerce starts around ₹75,000 and custom web applications begin near ₹2,50,000. Budget separately for a domain (₹900–₹1,500 a year), hosting (₹3,000–₹15,000 a year) and optional maintenance.
One to two weeks for a starter site, three to five weeks for a business website, five to nine weeks for e-commerce. In practice the delay is almost never development — it is waiting on content, images and approvals from the client side. Have your copy and photos ready and you will halve the calendar time.
You should, and with GK Digital you do. The domain is registered in your name, hosting is in your account, and you receive the source code at handover. Ask any developer this question before you pay a deposit — a domain registered in the agency's name is the most common way small businesses lose control of their site.
WordPress if you publish content often and want to edit everything yourself. Custom (Next.js or React) if speed matters commercially, or the site does something a CMS cannot express. Shopify if you are selling products. Most Pune businesses are well served by WordPress; choosing custom for a five-page brochure site is paying for capability you will not use.
A well-built site removes the technical barriers to ranking — fast load, clean structure, schema markup, mobile-first, indexable. It does not by itself create rankings. Competitive Pune search terms need ongoing SEO and content after launch. Any developer promising first-page rankings as part of a build quote is selling something they cannot control.
At minimum, a domain renewal and hosting — realistically ₹4,000 to ₹16,000 a year combined for a typical business site. SSL should cost nothing. Maintenance is optional and runs ₹2,000 to ₹10,000 a month for updates, security patches, backups and small edits. A site left unmaintained for a year is usually a security incident waiting to happen.
Yes. We are based in Pune and work across Pimpri Chinchwad and Nashik, and with clients in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Surat and Vadodara. Most of the work happens over calls and a shared staging link, so location rarely changes the process — though for Pune and PCMC clients we do meet in person.
Yes. Website development is taxable at 18% GST in India. Quotes should state clearly whether the figure is inclusive or exclusive — a quote that goes quiet on GST is a quote that is about to get 18% larger.
